EuroUSC-Benelux B.V. and ADSE complete certification of a drone with an ADS-B Mode-S transponder

On Tuesday 19th of September, EuroUSC-Benelux and ADSE successfully completed certification of an Altura Zenith drone with an integrated ADS-B Mode-S transponder, owned by Euro Drone Inspections. EuroUSC-Benelux is a well-known player in the field of drone certification. Their rigorous test campaigns provide tailor made solutions for drone certification. During the project ADSE provided the technological expertise for integration of the drone with an ADS-B Mode-S transponder, developing the test plan used during this certification. By completing the test plan, it was ensured that the transponder has no negative influence on the drone, its operational safety or its main functions. The test campaign resulted in the drone receiving formal certification by ILT (Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport). Both ILT and Euro Drone Inspections praised the structure and the rigor of the test plan.

ADS-B Mode-S allows any aircraft with an appropriate transponder to transmit its identification and position, making it visible for the rest of the air traffic. It has been identified as a key technology for the future of ATM all around the world, being a central point in the US Next Generation Air Transport System (NextGen), ICAO’s Global Plan Initiatives and Aviation System Block Upgrade (ASBU) and the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR).

EuroUSC-Benelux and ADSE will continue their cooperation for future drone certification. By combining EuroUSC-Benelux’s experience in the UAS domain with ADSE’s technological expertise, fast tailor made certification services can be provided to all drone operators.
